Try stuff. Put plants in your room even if you aren’t the best at caring for them. Attempt that dessert recipe even if it turns out ugly. Listen to that music you’ve been meaning to try for a while. The world is full of infinite sources of goodness and the best thing to do it to try and find as many as possible.
self-care instruction manual
- forgive yourself : it’s okay if you didn’t wake up early, go for a run, or finish that assignment. you’re only human
- start slow : don’t set your expectations too high when you’re just starting off
- keep learning : getting to where you want to be is a process. don’t expect perfection overnight
- be kind to yourself : you’ll make mistakes along the way, but don’t let that stop you

Things we don’t do in 2019
- Cry over trash friends
- Beg anyone
- Not see our worth
- Chase
- Measure mental health progress on a linear scale
- Hate ourselves
- Put our lives on hold out of fear
- Shy away from doing things alone
me loving myself, including all of my flaws: It’s what Aphrodite would want.
me @ myself: give her time
do you ever get mad at yourself because youre not even good at the things you thought you were good at
you absolute fuckers i made this post fuckifn 5 years ago bc i spilled mac on my favorite shirt at the time n every day. every fucking day notifications spill in abt people being sad and thinking theyre not enough. listen. i made this post when i was 13 and spilling mac n cheese on my shirt. mayb right now u are 13 year old me right now, and thats okay, but absorbing these messages isnt gonna help u. u can get good n be good and telling yourself otherwise only hurts yourself and your mental health progress. be kind and good to yourself. we’ll all spill mac. but sometimes u just gotta change yr shirt and make a new bowl. its okay.
character development
nothings wrong with caring too much. you shouldnt be ashamed of putting your whole heart into it.
having a bad start doesn’t mean everything is ruined. having a bad week doesn’t mean your whole year will be bad. everything could be going wrong right now but you can still have a nice ending.
second hand pride
I did the being edgy and self-deprecating thing, it gets old. I wanna be soft and lovely and easily impressed. I wanna appreciate all the little things that make me happy the same way I’ve dwelled on every single thing that upsets me.
life works out. i cannot stress this enough. life always works out. it always turns out in your favor even if it doesn’t go according to the original plan. you may be utterly confused and lost right now, it may feel like everything is falling apart and there is nothing you can do to salvage any of it. but believe me when i say that this is just a transition period. things are constantly changing and evolving around you even if you can’t actively see that. life is changing you to prepare you for what is to come. you are growing and as you grow you are being built into the person that you are going to be. because see, life always has this funny way of working out.
