Nina comes over from ravka to visit, they’ve still been seeing each other because Nina makes “political visits” to ketterdam whenever Inej is there and Inej is mostly at sea so sometimes she’ll dock at Ravka, just to see Nina.
They meet at the harbour and spend ages just talking to each other in the middle if the street.
When they finally leave they start to look for the beat waffle house because they’re sure there is a better one out there.
the morning is basically spent tasting waffles across a bunch of different places in the city.
by the time its actually lunch they’ve found the perfect place but are really full.
they eat the waffles anyway because they’re that great.
they get coffee afterwards and they both like really different types and so decide to try each others (this means Nina getting black coffee and Inej getting one with loads of sugar)
they can’t stand each others drink and they both know it so they have a competition to see who could drink the whole thing first.
To general surprise, Inej won.
Her prize is she gets to pick the dinner place.
Inej takes Nina to her ship in the afternoon. The whole crew is out in Ketterdam so they have it to themselves.
they spend the afternoon exploring (well Nina’s exploring: Inej is just pretending not to know about everything they find) all the secret parts of the ship.
Before they eat dinner, Inej gets Nina to try karaoke
“only for you Wraith”
they end up loving it and Inej can actually sing quite passably.
it balances out for Nina’s complete lack of talent.
Which they both find hilarious
Finally Inej takes Nina to her favourite restaurant in ketterdam.
Again they just buy too much food and can barely eat it all.
Inej says that she’ll take Nina somewhere special afterwards… And Nina is really curious
When they finish inej leads her through ketterdam, the inej way, and Nina not so gracefully follows her around.
After a particularly difficult climb up a tall beautiful building near the harbour Inej stops.
Crows start to land around them and Inej starts feeding them, Nina scares some off at first but they both end up feeding the crows and having a really good time
Inej tells Nina that it’s her favourite place in Ketterdam
“so it’s only right to share it with her favourite person”
“it’s perfect, just like you”
They sit and watch the sunset over the buildings
Inej starts to feel a bit cliche at the end and starts trying to explain her choice but Nina stops her
“I love this place Inej and I love you.”
She didn’t mean to make her declaration quite like that for the first time
But Inej just kisses her.
“I love you too Nina,”
The sun disappears and they’re left standing in the moonlight, watching the rarely silent city.
who else just wants to go absolutely wild and bake some cookies with a pretty girl?? go nuclear and make some tea?? absolutely lose their fucking mind and curl up under a blanket??
cutie cliché dates are so appealing to me. like going ice skating, hot chocolate in one hand and yours in the other. or going to a furniture store and testing the beds together and pretending to be decorating our own place. or dancing in the kitchen while making pancakes and being messy and silly. sometimes doing corny things is a lot of fun, especially with you there.
