real answer? because wlw aren’t allowed to have a personality outside of being wlw. that would ruin the aesthetic. we aren’t supposed to be complex individuals with complex relationships, we’re just supposed to look pretty, especially if it’s to make the other ship and/or the artist look better. we aren’t people to them, we’re props.

I’m sorry if this is rude but i simply dont understand how someone who isnt a woman (nonbinary people amab or afab) can be lesbians. They can love women but lesbians are women who love women and nb ppl arent women. Even if theyre feminine, theyre still not women. But basically like there’s a very very long history of lesbians feeling alienated from traditional womanhood for many reasons, which leads them to not really feel like they’re a “woman” in the strictest sense of the word. Most expectations placed on what women are and what they do strictly revolve around pleasing men sexually, so if you’re only interested in women it’s hard to find your own place in that narrative.
Because of that disconnect between their own identity and lived experiences and what society expects women to be, many lesbians end up identifying as nonbinary, with their only connection to womanhood being their love for women. That doesn’t make them not lesbians all of a sudden, in fact most of them got to that place where they don’t feel comfortable as a woman BECAUSE they’re lesbians.
Also again, it’s not like this is some new Tumblr thing or whatever. There’s decades of written work showing that lesbians very often have complicated relationships with gender identity and their tenuous connection to womanhood, and I’m quite sure that even before lesbian history and communities started getting recorded in a formal way there were still lesbians who felt that way.
So yeah, there are lesbians who are nonbinary. It’s actually quite common. Gender can be weird and complex, and just because someone is not a woman in the strictest sense of the term does not mean they are not a lesbian

- Delphi. Everything about her. Including that she exists.
- During the actual series, wandless magic was incredibly difficult to do, and only harnessed by very dedicated, powerful witches and wizards. Then, when writing about it in reference to Native American witches and wizards, suddenly, they needed Europeans to come along and teach them how to use wands.
- Dumbledore being gay, whilst having none of his romantic relationships touched on in the series, even when his adolescence is delved into.
- Taking from other cultures (Indian and Native American, for example) to add things to the series, with no credit due to those cultures, and no mention of even a character from those cultures.
- Nagini somehow being a human originally, when it was previously never even alluded to, despite J.K. apparently ‘sitting on this for the last 20 years’.
- Nagini, the literal PET of a white supremacist, was a woman of color.
- Outside of the series, JK Rowling is a known TERF.
None of these things she attempts to shoehorn in feel even remotely natural to the story, and it’s painfully fucking obvious they’re last-minute ‘gotcha!’ twists ripped off ff.net or ao3. She’s destroying the series by trying to keep it relevant, when it could maintain relevancy all on it’s own by being passed down through families and the fandom all on it’s own.

my last take on this also: he/him lesbians and she/her gays are not responsible for transphobic and homophobic folks, do not blame them. pronouns do have meaning, yes, and they do allude to one gender. however, gnc gays use this to fght back against societys norms in a unque way, as because due to their experiences, they may relate more to the gender of the pronouns they are using. for example. a he/him lesbian may relate more to men or may subconsciously end up fitting in more with them, due to theiir identity, and due to how society treats the concept of women as a whole. this is very common with lesbians. women from a young age are taught to be quiet, selfless, to not be bitches, that all we do is squeal about boys n talk abt makeup n gossip abt petty shit. so he/him lesbians choose to subvert the role, sometimes because they want to make sure people will not have this impression of them.
it is not the same as straight trans guys, they are not saying it is the same, they are not trying to run trans men’s confidence. it is simply their personality, and how they feel comfortable with their own identity. they are still women.
